Small groups of Farmington educators - including teachers, coaches, and administrators - from all seventeen schools work together to redesign and implement authentic, impactful, transfer-level learning experiences for students.

To this end they collect student empathy data, reflect on student learning using the ALTmodel, and capture the stories of their transformative work to share with the larger community.

purpose of investigations

"This is more than just a nice one-pager that says what we are doing. It's about how we continue to keep the door open for educators to be able to say 'What if?' and 'Now what?'"

Dr. Kelly Coffin, Assistant Superintendent

from a coach's point of view

"Investigations takes Farmington’s vision and gives it meaning, gives it life. For the first time we have a deep understanding of not only what the concepts in the profile mean, but how to enact them in the classroom."

Beth Diponio, FPS Instructional Coach

one model for all

“We want our students to be self-actualizers and empowered collaborators, but we are the models for that behavior. That means we need to engage in that type of learning experience too.

Nicole Jones, FPS Instructional Coach

the implementation dip

"At first we thought we knew what we were doing, but then we hit a wall. We thought everything was a failure. A few months later when we met again we had this magical moment. All of a sudden the epiphany happened, and we knew we were moving in the right direction."
