Highlights from session one
Join us for a five-session event series designed for Farmington teachers interested in learning and practicing how to increase student engagement - aka make meaning - in your classrooms. In this series you'll work with other FPS educators to 1) Experience and learn about meaning making, 2) See other FPS meaning making examples, and 3) Implement and share your own meaning making experience. Details below.

Session 1: April 23 from 4-6 pm (Two-hour in-person at FPS Central Office)
In the first session you will work collaboratively to experience an engaging meaning making lesson as a student, then analyze the lesson with your colleagues to learn the specific components of meaning making.
Session 2: April 29 or May 1 (One-hour virtual)
In the second session you will work with other teachers in your grade band to review and discuss other FPS teachers' meaning making examples, then have independent work time to apply to your own classroom:
April 29 or May 1 at 4:00 (Middle and high school teachers)
April 29 or May 1 at 5:15 (Elementary school teachers)
Session 3: May 6 or May 8 (One-hour virtual)
In the third session you will work with other teachers in your grade band to review and discuss other FPS teachers' meaning making examples, then have independent work time to apply to your own classroom:
May 6 or May 8 at 4:00 (Middle and high school teachers)
May 6 or May 8 at 5:15 (Elementary school teachers)
Session 4: Week of May 12 (30-60 minute virtual)
For the fourth session you'll schedule an individual appointment with Leah at a convenient time for you during the week of May 12 to receive individual support for your own meaning making lesson.
Session 5: May 21 from 4-6 pm (Two-hour in-person at FPS Central Office)
Come back together as a whole group (elementary/middle/high school) to share your meaning making experience and learn from other teachers. You will receive guidance and support on how to do that in sessions 3 and 4.

Space is limited to 25 people.
Yes, you need to attend both sessions 2 and 3, even though they look similar. Teachers have said the most helpful experience is looking at examples from other teachers. To that end, we dedicate two sessions to looking at various FPS examples.
Yes, snacks will be provided at the in-person sessions. At the virtual sessions you are encouraged to bring your own!
